Maissa Alameddine is a Tripoli-born Lebanese artist who now lives and works on the unceded lands of the Cammeraygal and Dharug peoples. As a multidisciplinary practioner, Alameddine works across the margins of what it means to be a holder and carrier of oral traditions in stories. Her work attempts to transmit these stories through a practice in voice, visual arts and performance with deep respect for the foundational traditions and the folklore of her birthplace. Inheriting her voice from a long line of women vocalists, Alameddine uses it as both provocation and response.

For over twenty years, Alameddine has engaged in collective and collaborative practices within Arabic-speaking and broader Southwest Asia and North African arts communities. She is a founding member and one of the creative producers of the Western Sydney-based Arab Theatre Studio. She is currently cultivating Sonic Nafas (breath), an experimental space of breath, listening, and improvisation through the CultureLab Residency at The Warehouse, Arts House, Naarm.

Alameddine has exhibited at Blacktown Arts, 2025;  Utp x Westspace Cinema, 2024; The 24th Biennale of Sydney, 2024; The Blake Prize, 2024; the inaugural Volume Festival, AGNSW, 2023; North Sydney Art Prize, 2024; Firstdraft, 2023; Paramatta Artist Studios, 2022; and Hidden Rookwood, 2022. She has performed at the Sydney Opera House, City Recital Hall, Carriageworks, Phoenix Central Park, Museum of Contemporary Art Australia, Art Gallery of New South Wales, and Hubner Areal & Trafohaus, Germany.
